Opportunity:
NP/PA - Trauma Surgery
Job Details:
Coverage needed from May to July with up to full-time work available
Function primarily as trauma hospitalist rounder with some intermittent ED consults, trauma activations, and procedures
May include trauma critical care for providers with surgical and trauma critical care experience
No call - in-house only
Round on 10-14 admitted non-ICU patients or 6 ICU patients daily
Admitting/ED consults range from 2-15 per 24 hours
Work autonomously with trauma surgeon available 24 hours per day
Care for patients ages 0-100+, primarily adults and adolescents
Preferred procedures include non-invasive vent management, ventilation management, chest tube insertion, central line placement, arterial line placement, and suturing minor lacerations
Responsibilities include responding to ED trauma alerts, facilitating discharges, managing ER admissions, and daily rounding
Must be fully capable of attending to all patient conditions without hospitalist support
Requires ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C board certification (No FNPs, only Acute Care NPs or PAs)
ATLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required
Minimum 1 year of practice as an APP in inpatient setting, preferably with trauma, ICU, and/or orthopedics experience
Night shift 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM required
Local candidates preferred with only mileage reimbursed
Epic EMR system used for documentationFacility:
This facility is a Level I adult trauma center that also provides care for pediatric patients. The hospital offers comprehensive trauma services with 24-hour trauma surgeon coverage and specialty backup available for various procedures. The facility utilizes the Epic electronic medical record system and follows established clinical guidelines for patient care. As a Level I trauma center, the hospital provides the highest level of surgical care to trauma patients and serves as a comprehensive regional resource for trauma care.
