Opportunity:
Physician - Emergency Medicine
Job Details:
- ABEM board certification required
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required; family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship also considered
- All shifts are on-site, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverage
- Coverage includes weekends and nights; no call required
- Onboarding includes 2-hour orientation for Meditech EMR and local quality measures, plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
- Case logs will need to be provided
- Patient population varies by site: elderly and winter Texan patients, nursing home and rural patients, and mixed younger patient populations
- Two sites are Level IV trauma centers; all sites see high acuity cases
- Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
- Admission rates are 10% at freestanding emergency departments and 20% at the main hospital site
- APP support is available at all sites with varying hours of coverage per day
- Required procedures include intubation, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
- Physicians must be efficient in managing trauma, STEMI, and stroke cases
- 1 emergency medicine physician per shift at most sites
