Opportunity:
Physician - Emergency Medicine
Job Details:
- ABEM board certification required
- All shifts are 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverage
- On-site coverage required including weekends and nights with no call involved
- Duration of need is 1 year with 3-4 positions available
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments, or family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship
- Onboarding includes 2 hours of orientation for EMR training and local quality measures, plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
- Case logs will need to be provided
- Physicians must be efficient in central line placement, intubation, dislocation reductions, trauma management, STEMI, strokes, and OB deliveries
- Required procedures include intubations, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
- Multiple Level IV trauma centers within the system; all sites see high acuity cases
- Patient populations vary by site including elderly patients, winter Texans, nursing home residents, rural patients, and mixed younger populations
- Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients depending on site
- APP support available at all sites ranging from 9 to 24 hours per day depending on location
- Admission rates are approximately 10% at freestanding emergency departments and 20% at the main facility
- 1 emergency medicine physician per shift at all sites

With bed capacities ranging from 8 to 18 beds per location, the facilities are equipped to handle a wide variety of emergency medicine cases and serve diverse patient populations across the community.
