Opportunity:
Physician - Hematology/Oncology
Job Details:
- Provide full-time Hematology/Oncology clinic coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Minimum facility requirement is 3 days per week of coverage
- Support hospitals with inpatient and emergency room consultations and patient care guidance related to Hematology/Oncology
- Clinic appointment structure includes 20-minute pre-treatment and established follow-up visits, 40-minute new Hematology consults and hospital follow-ups, and 60-minute new Oncology consults
- Provider will also serve as supervising provider for a morning and afternoon each week to cover urgent patient needs
- Call rotation includes 1 week per month, covering both inpatient and phone calls with an average of 0-2 calls per day
- Weekend and night call coverage required
- Average patient volume of 15 patients per day with approximately 2 new patients per day; remaining patients are treatment and follow-up cases
- Patient population is adult only; no pediatrics
- Oncology/Hematology case breakdown is approximately two-thirds Oncology and one-third Hematology
- Typical cases include lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers, as well as some hematologic malignancies; some blood cancers referred out
- Clinic administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and non-chemotherapy injections; inpatient chemotherapy is not provided
- Radiation oncology coordination required; navigator assists with this process
- Port access performed by RNs; bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures are not required
- Provider will work alongside 1 NP and 1 virtual hematologist and will not be the sole provider on site
- Tumor board participation required
- Fellowship required; double board certification preferred
- Active PA license or IMLC preferred
